In the Name of Allaah, the All-Merciful…
OVERVIEW
Located in the beloved city of our Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam), the Islaamic University of Al-Madeenah was founded by the government of Saudi Arabia by a royal decree in the year 1381, intending to spread the teachings of Islaam all over the world.
Studies at the College of Sharee’ah, the first of the University’s faculties to be opened, started that year.
The main objectives of the university are, as mentioned on their website (previously):
“To convey the eternal message of Islaam to the entire world by means of dawah, call to Islam. We aim to do this through University education and post-graduate studies.
Inculcating and fostering the community upon practicing the teachings of Islam and worshiping the only true God, Allah alone, with utmost sincerity and devotion.
Imparting religious knowledge to students who come from different parts of the world and fostering them to become highly qualified scholars, specialized in various Islamic and Arabic disciplines.
Collecting, verifying, and publishing works relating to Islamic heritage.
Maintaining and fostering scholarly and cultural ties with other universities and scientific institutions and organizations throughout the world to serve the noble cause of Islam and its great objectives…”
Students who do not know Arabic have a chance to study the Arabic Language in a two-year world renown Arabic Institute. If they qualify with an overall 80% average or better, they can then enter one of the university’s colleges and focus on Islamic Studies.
The school reviews applications yearly. The academic year starts in September and ends in June and consists of two seperate semesters.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
To be considered for admission, male applicants should be 25 years old or younger with a high school diploma and generally good grades. Their application must include photographs, copies of passport, birth and health certificates, high school transcripts and a copy of the diploma, all verified by the Saudi Embassy of their country. Also, letters of recommendation from known Islaamic organizations or personalities should be included. The applicant must review the application carefully and be sure to include all necessary information and documents.
ESTIMATED COSTS AND LIVING EXPENSES
Tuition is free. The school provides the students with a monthly salary of SR 840 (about $225) and a round-trip plane ticket yearly. The monthly salary may be sufficient for single students living in the dormitory. Married students who have children will find it very difficult to be accepted with their families. They should expect their living expenses to be upwards of $10,000 yearly, depending on their standard of living, number of children, etc. Since the university does not have a women’s branch, the university’s policy is not to grant student visas to students’ wives.

Salam alaykum.
I am currently 31 years old and wishes to study Islam, is there any hope for me.
wa ‘alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaah. You can study Islaam at any age, wal-hamdulillaah. However, the university options are generally not for this age group. May Allaah grant you success, and grant you a way to study that is best for you.
salam alikum brother,
i have a quick question i am planing on going to Saudi by the end of February insh’allah and give my application there myself, do you think i will be still eligible to qualify for the 2013/2014 academic year?
IUM no longer accepts paper applications. You must submit your application online. So go and perform Umrah, visit IUM and ask the head of the board for your respective area (Europe, North America, etc) for an interview. They may or may not give you one. If not, then at least you completed the obligation of Umrah at least once in your lifetime.
May Allah bless you.
P.S. If you apply now, you will be considered for the 2014-2015 school year. The deadline for 2013-2014 has ended.
When will the list be released for those who applied for the 2013/2014 start? Will it be february 2013 or will it be september? I ask because I applied in April 2012..
JazakAllaho kheiran
The list should be out around August or September. May Allah bless you.
Assalamu Alaikum, brother can you please help me to understand whether the university will accept a Diploma in Science or not. I aslo have two GCSE. Akhi, do you think that is enough qualifications or do they require more. I really appreciate you answer to this.
Jazakala kheir
IUM will accept your most recent educational certificate/diploma. The minimum level is secondary/high school.
May Allah bless you.
Sallam Alaikun, when the acceptance names will be notified &how i will for my name for 2013/2014 admission.
Assalamu aleykium va rahmatullahi va barakiatuh
im currently 31 years old and i m currentli living in saudi arabia with resident visa and i want to study in university (islamic university in madinah) after magrib prayer so please can you tell me the annual price of study
jazak allahu khayran
What is the criteria to be selected in the IUM?? I had applied for 2011-12 session but unfortunately didn’t got my name on the selected lists even though I met all the requirements?
they consider the completion of your application file, your high school grades, and your recommendations. it also depends on how many people apply the same year as you. they do not inform applicants who are not accepted exactly why they weren’t chosen.
is there any student/s accepted from philippines?
yes, lots of them (may Allaah bless them). look for the names here: http://admission.iu.edu.sa/IuAbroadInquery.aspx
I really want to study in any islamic university there. How can i pass my papers?
http://admission.iu.edu.sa/Note.aspx
Assalaamu’alaykum. Is it a must that all the documents be translated in to Arabic also? Jazaakumullaahu khayran!
wa ‘alaykas-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi. They must be in Arabic or English, not BOTH. However, translating them into Arabic is a good idea, since some of the people who review the applications are not highly skilled in English. I have heard of an application being rejected because of a “prep school” diploma that did not mention “high school” or “secondary school”. While a prep school diploma would be normally valued more highly than just a high school diploma, they simply did not know what “prep school” meant. May Allaah bless you.
Assalamu alaikum warahmatullah e wabarakatu

I am from Indonesia but currently studying physics in doctoral program in United States. However, I want to apply to Islamic University of Madeenah right now. Can I use the Saudi Embassy here in States instead of the one in Indonesia to verify my documents, since it is written in the requirements that,
“Their application must include photographs, copies of passport, birth and health certificates, high school transcripts and a copy of the diploma, all verified by the Saudi Embassy of their country.”
Barakallaahu fiik.. May Allah reward you with Jannah..
The Saudi Embassy in any country will likely not undertake the verification process of documents originating from outside of the country they are in. I don’t see how the Saudi Embassy in the U.S. could verify Indonesian documents. If you mean American documents, then yes, of course. Call them and ask to be sure about any Indonesian documents you need verified, and let us know.
Assalyamu Aleykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu
I have similar question: I’m Russian citizen but currently residing in US and I don’t really have ability as for now to apply from my country, so I can’t turn it in Saudi embassy in US? Even if its translated? Or what are other ways to do it? BarakaLlaahu feekum wa JazzakaLlahu khairan
is it possible to apply as a women in the university of medina? When will the women branch open?
as-Salaamu `alayki wa rahmatullaah,
I don’t think you can apply since the women’s department didn’t officially open yet (if it will). All that’s been told is that Madeenah University has been given permission to open a women’s department, and that they are working on it. How long that might take? Allaah knows best.
Try applying to Umm al-Quraa (Makkah) or Princess Noura University (Riyaad). These are very wonderful alternatives for the sisters. والله الموفق!
Assalaamulaikum,
Alhumdullillah I am selected in madina university for the year 2011-2012.I recieved an admission number through post and and rest details from website, But still i dint recieved a visa number from your side.As i came to know fromt the website that visa process should be complete before Febraury 7th 2012 so am worried that i have left with little time to complete the process. Please let me know that i will get the visa number through the university website or i have to visit the saudi embassy of my country with the details i got from the university website. Please reply me as soon as possible as I am left with very little time for the visa process.

Syed minhaj ahmed Bin syed Qader Ahmed.
India.
The visa and ticket numbers are sent from the saudi embassy in your respective country. The embassy usually requires a lot of paperwork, so I would recommend contacting them and beginning to process what you are able. The wait for the visa and ticket is a long one; most nationalities don’t get it until about March. However, some countries get it as early as November or as late as June. May Allah give you success.
asslaamlikum brother first of all praise to be ALLAH that u r selected.

Asalamou3alaikom Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu,
I’m living in the Netherlands and I’m 19 years old. I want to do Incha Allah knowledge in Madinah. But are the people of this country accepted at the school of Medinah?
Furthermore, I do not speak the Arabic language, but I understand it a bit.
is there any chance for me?
wa alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. I don’t know any reason why people in your country would not be considered. Seek Allaah’s Help, apply, and may Allaah give you success! Not knowing Arabic is not a problem, because they will teach you Arabic from level one.
I personally know many students from the Netherlands.
The article is outdated, due to that the following pieces of information are inaccurate:
1. “Since the university does not have a women’s branch, the university’s policy is not to grant student visas to students’ wives.”
New policy: All wives of all students are automatically given five years of residency in Saudi Arabia
2. “President, Vice, President, staff names are outdated. This is the old admin. the new one can be found at the university website. (Admin: removed outdated names and phone numbers, may Allaah bless you.)
The university changed policy on family visas. They will review your application, but they do not promise a visa.
Assalaamu-Alykum Warah_mah.
I realy want to apply to Islamic University of Al-Madinnah online but I dont realy no what to do. Pls help me out, I realy want to be there for my Studies. You may reply me via my e-mail. Thank’s!
In the article above, it says: ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS [ Click here ] – all you need to do is click there, and you will go to the university’s official online application. May Allaah give you success.
I’m from Bangladesh n i’m 19 years old. I always have a dream to study in islamic university of madinah. is there any students accepted from Bangladesh? If there is then can u give me their list or something like that so that i can contact with them?
May Allah bless u…
There are hundreds of students from Bangladesh in IUM, and more are accepted each year. Complete the online application process; the link is found in the article above. I am not able to provide contact information for students in the university.
when is the student acceptance list available?
The acceptance list is usually published around mid to late August, but could be delayed to as late as November for any number of reasons.
what is the deadline for this year intake? Please reply as soon as possible I want go there for 2013 january to apply for that year
The application deadline is usually around Hajj season, to be considered for the following school year. If you submit an application now or any time before Hajj this year, it will be considered for the 2013-2014 school year.
Hi May i know who should i contact over the phone to get the information regrarding the admissiom and also could you please tell me if you know that how mant students from Canada apply for admission and how many from em get admission, JazakaAllah Khair
If you are looking for general information on admission requirements, then you should click on the link in the article for the online application. If you are looking for specific information regarding the acceptance list or when the students will receive their visas etc, then you will have to wait until the university publishes it. If you would like to talk to someone over the phone, then i suggest calling the number listed on the university’s website, however, it is not likely that you will reach someone who speaks English. Anywhere between 7 and 20 Canadian students are accepted each year, but there is no way to tell how many apply. May Allah give you success.
(But there is no way to tell how many apply)
Correction: I am not sure, but you may be able to ask one of the secretaries in the application department at IUM.
asalamun alahkun my brother in islam.i wish your contact on how can you assist your brother in islam about to gain an admition in to the university of sharia in mahdeenah

As salam alaykum.
I am a 23 year old boy living in Denmark, with perminant residence permit here, but not their citizenship. I was born in Montenegro, Bijelo Polje, and i have checked there, they do not have a Saudi Arabian embassy, so what should i do? Can i get my documents stamped by the embassy of Denmark? I have lived in Denmark for 20 years.
I was told by a student from Montenegro that they went through the embassy in Bosnia or Serbia, but I have no further information. Perhaps a student from Montenegro or another Balkan country can provide more information. I suggest contacting the Saudi Arabian embassy in Denmark and asking them. May Allah give you success.
Salamou Alaikoum,
quick question moosa, it says above that all documents need to be “verified by the Saudi Embassy of their country”.
What exactly does that mean. I must take all my papers to the saudi embassy to get approved and then submit my application online?
wa ‘alaykumus-salaam, perhaps some students who have been through this process could describe what they were asked to do specifically. (I never had to do this myself.)
Assalaamu ‘Alaykum Wa Rahmatullaah,
Not all your papers. Just the ones that have been authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as your transcripts, diploma, police record check (and any other document I may have missed). Visit the Saudi Embassy and have them authenticated there. They may ask you to write a letter as to why you need them approved, but not necessarily so. Its a simple process in shaa’ Allah.
May Allah grant you success.
And Allah knows best.
May Allah reward you for your answer. The only other thing that I remember was the birth certificate. When they ask for your reason, inform them that you are applying for a student VISA. please note that this is the process for the Saudi embassy in Washington D.C. USA. Other places may have a different process.
And Allah knows best.
As salaamu’alaykum for the papers required to apply i have seen that you need a GCSE/A LEVEL transcript, what exactly is that ? JzkAllah
They are your transcripts from secondary/high school. The name varies from country to country.
But what exactly is a gcse transcript sorry ive never heard of it
Assalamalaykum,
Alhamdullillah I have been accepted in the university for 2012/2013. Is it possible to delay the acceptance until the next semester or the next year ? If it’s possible, do you know what procedure to follow ?
Jazakum allahukheir
Younus
Wa Alaykum Assalaam Wa Rahmatullaah,
May Allah grant you success. It has been mentioned by a few students that it is possible to delay your ticket or visa for the following semester, meaning January/February, but not the acceptance. Depending on each country, the process for visa finalization may take awhile, so that will play in your favor if you wished to delay your trip. However, it would be a voucher expired if you attempted to travel next year.
And of course, Allah knows best.
Jazakallahukheir for your response. It’s still not clear how to proceed to delay my ticket and visa until January since it’s already issued(we have the date of the flight and the visa number). Nobody answers when I called the administration. How can I do It? Please help, jazakallahukheir.
Yunus
slm brother
wanted to ask if you were able to delay your visa etc till the next semester. and what procedures you had followed..
jazakallahu khair
May Allaah bless you and your studies akhee Younus.
Bismillaah wa salaatoe wa salaam 3ala Rasoellillaah, thoemma ama ba3d,
Assalaam 3alaikom dear brothers,
I would like to thank you for all your great effords in spreading authentic knowledge and helping people with questions regarding studying in the Kingdom.
I have a specific question: I am 35 years of age and have almost finished my English Teacher Education (Bachelor level) and I want to combine working with studying. Is it possible to study for example in Medina and work at the University at the same time?
Akramakom Allaah.
Wa salaam
Ridouan Aboe Roemaissa
The official age limit for acceptance is 23. If, however, you are accepted, then it is possible to work while you are studying.
Assalamalaykum,
i’m 15 right now i’m getting my high school diploma and what do you mean about recognize Islamic organization. i go to Saturday and Sunday Quran school i don’t think is konw please reply.
A letter from your local masjid or Islamic center is sufficient. If you have access to a graduate of IUM in your area, it would be useful to get a letter of recommendation from him. May Allah give you success.
Salaam walaykum,
When will the list be out?
BarakAllahu feek
wa ‘alaykumus-salaamu wa rahmatullah, Keep checking this page: http://admission.iu.edu.sa/IuAbroadInquery.aspx May Allaah give you success and bless you.
As salamualkium.Just asking can you have a G.E.D. to go to the university of Madeenah?
Yes. The university accepts all government diplomas and any diploma from an accredited school, private or public. However, the Saudi embassy will only accept public high school diplomas, or the G.E.D.
Private school (Islamic schools etc.) and college certificates will not be validated for the visa.
Assalamu alaikum br Hassan
You said that “college certificates will not be validated for the visa”, can you please elaborate more on this?
Does this mean you will not be accepted into Madinah Uni / Uni’s in Saudi in general – if you apply with a college certificate?
I ask because I am currently studying in a college, and the certificate I will receive upon completion is equivalent to high school in my country, however it’s a certificate in IT. Despite it not being a general high school certificate will I be rejected if I apply?
On the website of the Jami’ah they have said “GSCE/High school diploma/equivalent” – wouldn’t my certificate come under the equivalent category?
I don’t have the high school certificate because before I became Muslim I didn’t do well in school. Now Alhamdulilah I’m back in education and I wish to study at the Jami’ah as soon as I finish In sha Allah Ta’ala.
Please reply if you have time akhi.
Jazakallahu Khairan wa barakallahu feekum
Wa alaikum salaam brother Abdullah. I apologize for the long delay. The process may differ from one country to the next. The Saudi embassy in USA wants to see a government issued high school equivalent befored they authorize the visa. What exactly fall into that, you will have to ask of the embassy themselves. I will point out that this is for the visa AFTER being accepted. To apply for the university, any educational certificate is acceptable. May Allah grant you success.
MAY Allah Bless you Hassan DeVitry.Just have one more question brother for them to except some one for this wonderful school i know its in the hands of Allah. We to if we want to be successful Inshallah we have to do are part is there agvise you can give to the muslims that want to study at this university or other universitys ?
As you said brother it is in the hands of Allah. I would advise you, however, to be sure that you included every single document required in an organized and tidy manner. When the board is reviewing your application, apearance matters. In the end, it all goes back to the will of Allah, so trust in him. May he grant you success.
salaam walaykum,
There will be a second list out?
Is it true, can you confirm this? Or can you ask a student or someone?
salaam Alaykum…
i got accepted alhamdulilah however due to unforeseen cirmumstances i will be not able start my studies this semester…. if you wanted to apply for a defferal to next year, how can you do it and does it require me to be in saudi arabia or can i do it from where i live..
jazakallah khair
You may delay your arrival for a semester without consequence, as long as you arrive that year. If you must delay until next year, you can contact the university and arrange for such. I have no further information on the subject. May Allah bless you.
I am from India and want to join the Islamic University of Madinah to complete a course on Shariah, Hadith.
Are the admissions for 2012-2013 still in progress?
As I am a non-arabic speaker, can I join any course of my choice without having to learn Arabic first?
In which language will be the classes conducted (Arabic/English)?
Admissions for the 2012-2013 year are closed. If you apply now, you will be considered for the 2013-2014 year. All classes are held in Arabic. If you do not speak Arabic, you will be put into the two year Arabic institute before moving to college studies. May Allah bless you.
Assalamu alaikum to brothers Moosa & Admin.
A few days ago I made a comment to br Hassan regarding admission requirements for the Jami’ah in Madinah, based off of br Hassan’s comment that “college certificates will not be validated for the visa”.
If the actual high school certificate is 100% required, and equivalency certificates/diplomas are not accepted, are you aware if any of the Islamic uni’s in saudi will make an allowance for new Muslims?
Hayak Allah.
Walaikum Salam wa Rahmatullah.
wa alaykas-salaamu wa rahmatullaahi. This is where the validation process comes in from the Saudi Embassy/Consulate or Saudi Cultural Mission in your country. They basically verify the certificate you have as being acceptable or not. You will likely have to get it verified from them before you could receive the visa if you were accepted, so why not visit them and get it verified before you apply?
i am 28 . i am going to saudi legaly to study islam. is there any institution that can accept me?
Assalam o Alaikum, I am Mohsin Mahmood from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Originally I am from Pakistan. I’ve read the article about the admission in Islamic Madinah Unversity about Arabic Language and Islamic Studies. And I want to take admission in that, so kindly tell me the procedure of admission, so that i may start my admission Process. Jazakallah…
Wa ‘alaykumussalaam wa rahmatullaah, when you have all the required document SCANNED and ready on your computer, visit:
http://admission.iu.edu.sa/Selection.aspx (in English)
or: http://admission.iu.edu.sa/Default.aspx (for another language)
I hope this helps!
Insha’Allah…and those who lives in Saudi Arabia can get admission there…right??
and when there next session will start??
I don’t know if the procedure is the same for those living in saudi, maybe the admin can answer that.
The application for 2013/14 is going on right now!
wassalaamu ‘alaykum
Salaam walaykum warahmatulah,
I applied for this year (2012-2013) but I weren’t accepted. And my application is still under consideration. Do I have to apply again for next year (2013-2014)?
BarakAllahu feekum
Yes, if you want to be considered for the new school year, you must submit a new application. May Allah grant you success.
Assalamu alaykum,
When does the window for applications open for the academic year of 2014/2015?
The window usually opens around Hajj of the previous school year. If you wish to be considered for the 2014-2015 school year, Then submit your application around Hajj of 2013. May Allah bless you.
Assalaamu’alykum warahmatullaah, I applied and received my application number more than ten days ago, however it says on the inquiry page “the period for amending your application has not ended…” even though I belief I have completed all the required info and docs. Can any of the brothers help? wa jazaakumullaahu khayran!
That is standard to all applications. If you have supplied all required documents, then continue the addmission process by following the instructions in your acceptance letter. May allah bless you.
Wafeeka baarakallaah, you said “then continue the addmission process by following the instructions in your acceptance letter.” I didn’t understand that bit, what acceptance letter? I haven’t been accepted, I’ve just applied on line. However the application is supposed to be sent after ten days(and it’s past ten days) and it should say on the inquiry page “your application is under consideration” but it doesn’t.
Jazaakallaahu khairan for your reply akhee Hassan.
I apologize Akhee Said. I misunderstood you question. The online application feature was just recently launched; I do not know how it works. Perhaps another brother who has used it could provide more information.
May Allah bless you.
assalamualaikum.
Alhamdulillah i have been accepted for January 2013. How can i apply for deferal to the new year in 2013 in shawwal?
Atleast by when do i have to register for the january 2013 semester i that i have been accepted in?
And how do I apply for a visa for my wife and kids?
Allah yubarik feek ya akhi..
To defer to the next school year, contact the student rep. in the Suadi Cultural Mission of your respective country. If you live in the USA, the rep. is Ms. Nisrin Ghazaali.
The application for your family must be completed from the university, after you arrive there and recieve your permanant resident card. May Allah give you success.
Jazakumullahu khair
If i do go for the january semester is there any deadline for registration in the january semester?
Allah yueenuk akhi wa yubarik feek
No, you can arrive as late as you want as long as you do so before the end of the semester. May Allah give you success.
As-salaam aliyokum
i am from kashmir, india
and i want to study in Islamic University Of Medina . and i want to know the following details:
1. what is the criteria for the selection of students?
2. i dont now arabic language , so can i apply?
3.and i have passed my high school examinations with 52% , am i applicable?
MA”SALAM
The criteria for selection include application quality, number of applicants or students from your respective country, Muslim population of your country, among other demographics. Above all, success lies with Allah.
The university runs a two year Arabic institute for students who do not speak Arabic.
As for your high school, as long as you received the diploma, you may apply.
May Allah give you success.
as i am graduate studen so which certificate should i provide them with(hse or graduate certificate)
and can i do any kind of side job during my studies over there?
As salaamu ‘alaika,
I know someone who is trying to fill out the application for the Uni in Madeenah. Does the application HAVE TO BE FILLED OUT ON the Uni’s online site? Can you print out an application and send it the old fashion way?
Also, Is there a mahad or school that one who has passed the age of entering these universities can go a study the arabic language and deen(i.e. a 30-40 year old non arabic speaker wanting to study)?
Also, Is there a mahad or school that one who has passed the age of entering these universities can go and study the arabic language and deen(i.e. a 30-40 year old non arabic speaker wanting to study)?
Aasif I meant to place the word “and” in the sentence above.
Wa Alaikum Salaam wa rahmatullah.
The application must be filled out online. The university no longer accepts paper applications.
As for the applicants age, while the university policy is not to accept anyone over 23, they will review the application regardless. If you fulfill other criteria deemed crucial by the board, they may make an exception and accept the applicant. This has happened occasionally, with the university accepting students as old as 50.
May Allah give you success.
i wish to apply to the university, what is the procedure i will follow.thank you…..
as-salaam aliyokum
as i am going to apply for islamic university of medina .and i am a graduate student so which certificate i has to submit ( HSE or graduate).
and what is testimony of conduct certificate?
and i want to know that if i am selected for the studies in university can i do any kind of side job during studies as i have done b tech in electronics and communication
MA”SALAAM
For IUM, you are asked to submit your HSE. The embassy usually asks to see your most recent educational certificate.
As for working while you study, this is a complicated issue, and I am not able to answer.
I apologise, and may Allah give you success.
Salamou Alaikoum,
Ikwan, can somebody please tell me when the application deadline is for the 2013-2014 year inshaAllah.
Some say it was hajj season, Others say you have until end of January. It would be greatly appreciated.
Barrack Allahu Feekum!
Assalaamu’alaykum
As I have done Graduation from Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama ,INDIA
I am willing to do Post Graduation in hadith section from IUM.
While filling the admission form online my HSE details are asked, which I had completed in 2005.
So, is it alright to continue filling الشهادة الثانوية HSE details for Post Grad. or there is some other way for applying for Post Grad.
I am confused please guide me..
I’m 24 year old.
Assalamu Alaikum;
Dear Brother’s Moosa. Admin, and other brothers who’re able to answer my query.
I am in Australia, 18 years old, and wishing to pursue higher education at one of the Islamic universities in Saudi Arabia (The Islamic university in Al-Madinah is my preference).
Can you please inform me of the cut off date to be accepted in the 2013 – 2014 school year?
I almost have everything required to be accepted (minus passport & medical certificate), and also a reference from my Sheikh. However, my Sheikh is going on vacation until february, and he told me he would write it for me once he returns in sha Allah.
Will I have a chance of being accepted for the 2013 – 2014 school year if I apply in February? Or is this too late to be accepted for the 2013 – 2014 intake?
And if hypothetically I was accepted for the 2013 – 2014 intake, what time of the year would I be in Al-Madinah? During Ramadan? After Ramadan?
I look forward to your response, and I hope you’re in the best of health.
Jazak Allah Khair wa Barak Allahu feek.
If you were to submit your application now, you would be considered for the 2014-2015 school year. After recieving your acceptance letter, you can expect to be in Madinah around the beginning of the second semester.
Asalam aleykum, I hope you are all doing well.
I have applied for the 2013-2014 intake at IUM, can the application go through without a medical report, or will the online system not submit my application without it.
And can I use my referrence letter as a testimony of conduct?
The online application process is recent; I do not know how it works. Perhaps someone who has used it may provide information.
Assalamu alaykum,
Does AlMadinah accept girls?
Not yet, soon Inshallah. MadinahStudent.co.uk has been asked this a lot so we specifically asked one of the heads of the Acceptance Department about the matter and we were informed that the Islamic University has finalised everything regarding opening a Sisters college and all that is left is to find a suitable building to rent or place to build one. The Campus of the Islamic University of Madinah is a male only so the Womens’ section has to be off campus.
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
I applied back in September for 2013-2014! Does anyone knows when should I get a respond or receive a letter if I got accepted?
Jazakom allah khair.
You should expect notification around August-November 2013.
May Allah give you success.
Jazak Allah Khair Akhi.

I’m a revert from America and I want to study Islam more. However, I do not speak Arabic. Can I still apply? Also, what about “letters of recommendation from known Islaamic organizations”? Since I’m a revert not many Muslims know me. Is the recommendation of the sheikh at my masjid ok? Thank you.
Wa ‘alayk as-salaam. The recommendation should be from the most well known organization you have in your area, mentioning you by name. They do not have to vouch for your sincerity or dedication to Islam. You just need to be identified as someone who would like to study, and they ask for help on your behalf. Remember to ask them to use the same name that appears on your passport, in case it is not what you are known by. The recommendations need personally signed and stamped by the masjid official(s).
Further clarification:”Organization”, includes but is not limited to: A Masjid, Da’wah center, Islamic school, Islamic cultural center, MSA, etc.
It also includes a letter from any well known Islamic personality in your area.
May Allah bless you.
Aslm alykm, brothers! I submitted my application in late December, 2012. Please, what academic year will I be considered for? 2013/2014? Or 2014/2015? Jazzakumullahu khayran!
You will be considered for 2014-2015.
May Allah bless you.
Asalam mo Alaikum Brother.
My brother has become Hafiz-ul-Quran Alhamdullalih, he has passed Higher Secondary School Exam also he is aged 21. he want to become a Islamic Scholar insha Allah tala. So we need your guidance.
Jazak Allah.
Syed Aman Ullah bin Syed Qaeem Ullah
May Allah reward him for his desire to seek knowledge. I can only provide information on IUM procedure and policies. However, I will mention that a muslim can seek knowledge without attending IUM, and graduating from IUM does not make one a scholar. The recorded classes of our beloved Ulema are available for people to learn from all around the world. Here are a few links.

Perhapse the Admin could provide some short advice regarding seeking knowlege outside of the University.
May Allah give you and your brother success.
Will I have a great chance of getting accepted if I go to the university in June and apply there with all the required documents. will I have a guaranteed acceptance. My parents are scrapping some money so I can make umrah and hopefully apply. This is my future I want to attend the university so bad because I want to become a scholar one day.
All applications are via the internet. The University no longer accepts paper applications. However, you may apply online, then go in person and ask for an interview. They may or may not give you one, but if they do, your chances of being accepted increase. Admission is not guaranteed. In the end, success is with Allah. Make much dua, and have Taqwaa of Allah, for whoever has Taqwaa of Allah then Allah teach him, and make a way for him where he does not expect.
May Allah bless you.
What do you mean they may give me an interview brother. The reason why I am going to saudi Arabia is because I want to apply and get an interview if there is not a great chance of getting an interview then why should I go. My parents are trying hard to get me there. I will umrah inshallah but the main goal is to get a greater chance of acceptance
Brother Ismail, you can no longer apply in person at the university. IUM considers ONLY online applications submitted through the portal on the IUM website. If you try to go in person, they will tell you to find a computer and submit it online. However, if you apply online, then make Umrah, visit IUM and ask the Head of the board for your respective area (Europe + America, Africa, etc..) for an interview. If they give you one, Al-Hamdu Lillah. If not, then your trip was not pointless, as you have fullfilled the obligation of making Umrah at least once in your lifetime. And as I said before, it is Allah who grants success, so have Taqwah of Allah, and he will grant you success.
Because it is worth the try, even if its a big “may.” Remember that you will also be traveling, so your supplications are answered by Allah’s Permission.
May Allah grant you success.
aslamulakum i am from pakistan.i pass secondry school with aone grade.and want to get admission in madina university college through scholarshep.please guide me when college admission start.where is the form of admission in net.
Wa Alaikum Salaam. The link to IUM’s application page is posted in the article above.
May Allah bless you
Assalamu Alaikum,
Please tell me when the application deadline is for the 2013-2014 year inshaAllah.
The application deadline is usually around October or November of the previous year. So the deadline for 2013-2014 was November 2012. If you apply before November 2013, you will be considered for the 2014-2015 school year.
May Allah bless you
as-salaam aliyokum
if i apply in jan 2013 is there any chance of being accepted in 2013/2014 batch
No. You will be considered for the 2014-2015 year.
asalamulakum in (admission.iu.edu.sa)there is only b.a admission form where is the forms for other level.
This is the only form. If you are accepted, you will take a placement test and be put into the correct level.
May Allah bless you.
Salam. I (Maccido Isah Nigerian) was interviewed in IUM at august 2011 and also expected to be accepted at 2012/2013 but when the list of accepted has released, i reached that all accepted are either DAURA’S SUCCESS STUDENTS or the applicants whom applied via net without going to madinah to interview, no body among us (whom were interviewed in IUM at 2011) get admission at that year (2012/2013). so my questions is that:- which kind of students you expecting to be accepted in this year. are them whom had done daura or whom applied via net only, or whom applied and were interviewed in IUM? and the sec. que. is did i have yet chance to get admission in 2013/2014? and last 1 is when the accepted list of 2013/2014 will released? please and please!! if you have about my questions try to answer it for me. and
i am from pakistan.and pass secondry school.is there any chance for me in madina university scholarshep.
If you received your Secondary Diploma, then you may apply to IUM. Please see the article above for more information.
May Allah bless you.
If I have no birth certificate what can I do I was born in Somalia and there is no way to get one help please brother.
What if I have no birth certificate since I was born in somalia what can I do I have no way of getting it help brother
I apologize for the long delay in answering you question. While it is a required document, upload a letter explaining your situation in its place. There is no guarantee, but you may be considered for acceptance if you exhausted all means of acquiring a birth certificate. May Allah bless you.
my brother in islam, Hassan thank you I have just a couple questions.
1). how do they choose their applicants, do they do everything by random or do they check each applicants paperwork. there are thousands of people from one country applying so how do they choose.
2). Do high school grades play a key role in getting accepted.
3). Does age and age of high school diploma play a key role also.
The applications are reviewed, and chosen based on application quality (if all of the required documents are present and in order), among other things. Your grades do play an important role; if you don’t seem like a good student, why would they want you in their school? they also look at the number of Muslims in your country, the number of students from your area, and the average success rate of students from your country.
Age does play a role as well, but the Saudi board of education are known to be a little more lenient in that regard. If the rest of your application fits what they want based on current demographics, then you have a chance regardless of your age. IUM has occasionally accepted students as old as fifty.
I have never heard of the board looking at the age of a diploma, but I do not know for sure. perhaps someone with more information can elaborate.
May Allah bless you.
Assalamu Alaikum brothers I hope you are well.
I am in Italy and I want to know what my chances for acceptance for academic year 2013. why I asked the question in October. I have 18 years in April
On my formula I only put pictures because I did not know how to put other documents. Now I’d like your advice.
Thank you hamdan
Applications for the 2013-2014 year are closed. If you applied before October-November, then you may be considered for acceptance into the 2014 spring semester. Keep in mind that hundreds of thousands of students apply each year, so if you are not accepted this year, reapply for the next one.
May Allah give you success.
the way that you used to put picture is the same to put other documents try again because you have already your admission number or send me your documents and your admission number so that I’ll do it for you!
May Allah bless us.
I’m sorry brother. how do I send? I do not know how to put documents on your computer. I can give you the number here? please advice by themes.
Documents must be scanned and uploaded to the application portal on IUM’s official website. Perhaps you can find help doing this in your local public library. Once uploaded, the instructions are found in the application portal. IUM contact information can be found on their site as well, but it is unlikely that you would reach someone who speaks English.
thanks for the advice. but now it is closed I can no longer get to correct. you can find a way to fix?
I’m sorry, but the number of admission there is not the, but I only have the number of aplicazione.how do I get the number of admission if they sent me email?help me brother
I’m sorry brother. he said that it helps me, but I do not have the number of admission. I only have the number of applicasione. and then I do not know how I should send the documents. brothers help me to complete this process. I would do anything in Islam
My brother Hassan may allah reward you for your help. When a student arrives in madinah does he get a permanent resident card so does that mean the individual can stay in madinah do can he bring his wife over to the country
The residency card takes a few months to process, so it will be a while untill you get it. During that period, you will carry documentation indicating your status as a new student, but you will not be allowed to travel outside of madinah, and may be denied some services (renting a car, etc.). As for bringing your family, it is a long, complicated process, and you can not begin until you recieve your residency.
May Allah bless you.
so can you ask the university for help on bringing your wife only because what if you are a newlywed you don’t want to be away from your wife for 6 years.
Under current policy, it is very difficult to bring your family with you. IUM recently passed the responsibility of students families over to another government department, and policies are changing. I do not know if they will make it easier or more difficult.
I will post another reply when I know more.
May Allah bless you.
salamualaykum
my question is, what if ur grades are not that good but have are getting better.( i also have a letter of recommendation from my medical teacher that says i have promise and qulity to be part of IUM), do i still have a chance of getting accepted to the school.
jazallahukaran
Whatever grades sent with the application are the ones reviewed by the Board. I will mention that they ask for a letter from an Islamic personality or organization. I do not know if they will accept a letter from a med prof. And Allah knows best.
May Allah bless you.
Thank you. but now I have closed. how do I log in?
I don’t follow your question. Closed what? Log into what?
I asked the question in October 2012.
I did not know you had to put the documents immediately. so do not put them. when I found out it was already late I could not get to Correct.I hope you understand me
If a student does get accepted and gets a bachelors degree. Can he go on for his postgraduates or will he be told to leave. If he can stay can he on day become a teacher at the university or any other university. My dream is to do this one day I think about this every night I sleep please help Akhi.
IUM does offer a Masters degree and a PhD. Doctorate program students often do teach in various faculties.
May Allah bless you.
So inshallah if I get accepted and finish my studies I can get a Job at the IUM right I finish the phd right. I will get married sometime in the future and would like to support myself and my wife with a job in this degree (it is my dream I think about it every second).
Do the teachers get paid enough to support their family or do they get a second job
Advice: Seek knowledge for Allaah’s sake, to learn what pleases and displeases Him, and then act upon that. If Allaah wants good for you and grants you fiqh (understanding) of the Religion which your scholars recognize and believe that you should teach at the university or anywhere else, then seek Allaah’s assistance and take that path. However, do not plan on it now, as if you know that Allaah will give you success in understanding, as the students who have solid understanding are few, while the graduates are many. May Allaah bless the graduate who memorized information for the exams, but realizes his understanding is weak, so he refrains from teaching so as not to corrupt the people’s religion with his limited understanding. Be warned against seeking knowledge of the Hereafter for materialistic gain. (not implying that is your goal or intention)
My brother in Islam by Allah that was one of the greatest naseeha I was ever given may Allah bless your sell my brother I love you for the sake of Allah and may Allah grant you paradise. You have motivated me to changemy intension
Asalamualikum warhmatullahi wabarakatuhu. How are you? My problem is the application for Meddnah university, I applied on the first week of January. I put in everything, the (transcript, medical rep, diploma, letter of rec…). They specify that I have 10 days to amend my application and yes they gave me the pin #. Its been way past 10 days, my application has still have option to amend it. I dont know what to do, I really want to go to Madinnaah University inshallallaah. I’m having second thought about my application now, maybe because i did not translate everything, they didnt accept?? Only things i have translated is Letter of recs and testimony of conduct. Do i need to translate everything to English (Diploma, Transcript, Birth Certificate…) or if its in English, its still okay?
I did not personally use the online application portal, so I am not sure how it works. I will mention that in dealing with IUM, such gliches are common and have no consequence. Submit you application once more, and put your trust in Allah. They most likely have received the application.
May Allah bless you.
Asalamualikum warhmatullahi wabarakatuhu, I’m afraid if i submet another one they may cancel my application. They clearly mention you cannot submit more than one application. Inshallah they have received it. But option is still there to amend, i understand if there are glitches, inshallah everything will be fine. Jazaklallah kahir for your efforts. May Allah bless you aswell.
And the application you mentioned is closed, now im afraid if they got it or not, because i applied for 2013/2014, or should i apply for 2014 now?
Assalyamu Aleykum wa rahmatullaah I have another question. What if person applies to university while single and by Allaah’s permission gets accepted then he gets married would it have any affect as far as visa concern, is it very difficult to bring wife over and whatever else related to it. BarakaLlaahu feekum
Under current policy, the process for family visas is very difficult. IUM has recently deferred the responsibility of students families over to a government agency, so policies are in the process of being revised and changed. I do not have any information regarding the nature of these changes, for better or for worse. I will post when I have more information, with the permission of Allah.
Regarding your previous question, I apologize for the long delay in answering, as I had to verify my information with IUM. Your document authentication has nothing to do with your application. You may submit an application regardless of you country of origin, or you country of residence. However, if you are accepted, the you will need to take your documents to be authenticated. I suggest contacting Buthayna Al-Wazeer in the Saudi Cultural Mission in Washington, D.C. She is in charge of document authentication. You may also want to contact the Russian embassy and see if they will authenticate the documents. If so, the Saudi Arabian embassy may accept them, but I do not know for sure.
May Allah bless you.
I am going to apply to IUM but I first need to authenticate my documents from my country or do I do it later If i get accepted. I was told it needs to be authenticated before you submit.
Also do you know where I can get an Arabic translation for my documents.
Assalamu alaikum.i forgot and send all the required documents in july 2012 without going to the embasy in my country for varification.pls what should i do?i realy need u assistance.
jazak Allahu khair.
Assalyamu Aleykum wa RahmatuLaahi wa barakaatuhu
What if you apply providing your information and then conditions change, specifically if one gets married would that affect procedure? Do I need to renew my information? And how is it now with visas for family?
BarakaLlaahu feekum
As far as I know, you do not need to renew your application.
The family visa is undergoing change, and i do not know what the new process will be like.
May Allah bless you.
Asalamu Calaykum
Is there any news regarding if University Of Madinah is opening a women branch?
Wabillahi Tawfiq
While the government did official give IUM permission to open a women’s branch, the plans for it are still in infancy. It may be a while until actual development takes place. However, Umm Al Quraa universitry in Makkah has been accepting sisters with their husbands for years. Please see the article detailing the university on this website.
May Allah bless you.
May Allah reward you with Jannah Inshaallah many websites doe not answer comments from 2012 and 13
P.S is your information directly from IUM?
And if so can you please ask if there is any progress on the women facility?
Wabillahi Tawfiq
Do you know any translation services?
I heard of madinah translation but the problem is I don’t know how long it will take?
Can you tell me how long it will take or even tell me a different translation service
Document translation is a local service provided by professional translators in most major cities worldwide. I do not know of any online translation service, nor would I recommend it.
May Allah bless you.
Do I authenticate my documents with the us government before I apply or not
Because a brother told you do not need to get them certified
Authentication is done at the Saudi Arabian embassy after acceptance into IUM. The authentication process has nothing to do with the application to the university.
May Allah bless you.
assalamu alaikum wa rahmathullah iam applied in madina university for 2013-14 when will the result be announced
How can I translate my documents in Arabic?
…
would u please tell me about acceptance rate at ium. would u give me the data?
slm brother
my son applied for this university on 2nd of February 2013. Are you sure he is has missed the deadline for 2013/2014? also when he came to madina university with his online application number for an interview he was told that they cant interview him as he has to bring his original documents with him. Eventhough they were all uploaded during the application process. who would be the best person to speak to about this in person at the university for him to get an interview as his original documents are in his home country. Please advise. wslm
Yes, the deadline for the 2013 year was missed. The best person to talk to would the head of the Lajnah for his specific area. if he is american or european, he should go to that respective board. Please note that he is not guaranteed an interview, regardless of who he talks to. If he is denied an interview, then he should at least make Umrah, and call upon Allah for success.
May Allah bless you.
How come they do not give you an interview if you come to the university
IUM no longer interviews all applicants. They select a few based on the demographics the are looking for, and interview them, if possible. When a student goes to IUM and asks for an interview, the board for his respective area reviews the application, then decides if they want to interview him. That is why we advise applicants who make Umrah to visit IUM and speak with the head of the board. May Allah bless you.
Please my brother tell me all the steps i take from the moment i walk into the university gates. I will be going to the university inshallah in june please send me an email
So when I make umrah inshallah where do I go and what do I do please help me
Assalyamu Aleykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu
Brothers, those of you who most recently applied to the university of Madinah through online application, inshaAllah could you tell me what are the exact documents that are required in order to apply, meaning to complete application process, disregarding visa process etc. BarakaLlaahu feekum
is it hard for person to enter the masters or phd programs
In order to be accepted into the higher studies programs at IUM, one must first graduate from the BA program. You then submit an application to IUM masters.
Now if one does apply then does that mean they get to start their studies right away or do they wait or will the be declined
Can I apply to madinah university and umm al qura university at the same time? Is that okay?
salam, hope you are doing fine ameen. My friend and my Junior brother apply for admission of the year 2012/2013. I am from Nigeria, in this our environment we lack some Islamic knowledge, Please, I will be very Happy if u can considered me.thanks, wasalam Aleakun.
As-salāmu ʿalaikum wa-raḥmatu ʾllāhi wa-barakātuhu,
I am from Germany and I applied for 2012-2013 but I was not accepted. Now I have applied for a second time with the same application number in the correct deadline for the year 2013-2014.
But when I enter my number at “Completing the application” appears the following text:
طلبك تحت الدراسة – Your Application is under consideration
I know I am the second one with this question but should I make a complete new application? Normally I understand that it means my application is under observation.
I’m afraid do this because maybe the university delete both of my applications in this case. If I have to make a new application I am frustrated because that means I apply now for the year 2014-2015. My current application is completely with all required documents and I am the only one of all my friends in Germany with such a status and Allāh knows best.
Brother Sam
Asalamu Calaykum
Is your information directly from IUM?
And if so can you please ask if there is any progress on the women facility?
Wabillahi Tawfiq
Wa Alaikum Salaam.
I apologize for the long delay in answering. Yes, my information is directly from IUM. I will try, with the permission of Allah, to get an update for you, but that make take some time.
May Allah bless you.

You may no longer modify your old application. However, If you send a new application now, it will be considered for the 2014-2015 year.
May Allah bless you.
i am an Ethiopian what do u mean by secondary school diploma is it the result of grade 10
aselamualykum
how can we translate documents for example informations on the passport it has photo signature and soon how it is translated since thire is aphoto on it do we translate name, passport number and passport type by another paper and then attach it
It is best to get it done professionally. Most metropolitan areas around the world have businesses that offer this service. If you are able to do it yourself, you can type it in spreadsheet format and upload it along with your passport.
May Allah bless you.
Is it bad if I apply for both umm al qura and madinah university I just really want to get accepted I dont care which one.
It is common to apply at once to UIM, Umm Al-Quraa, and Al-Imam university in Riyadh. This happens fairly often and we were never made aware of any policy addressing it.
May Allah bless you.
assalam o alakum
could you please confirm if women section in islamic university madina is opened.
The women’s section in IUM is not open. As of the last announcement, the plans for it were still under development.
May Allah bless you.

It is under consideration for 2014-2015.

As for studying in Umm Al-Quraa, it is mandatory to have a mahram. However, The universities are not the only way to learn Islam. Our beloved scholars have much work available to the world via books, cassettes, CD’s, and the internet. The following links are examples.

I would also recommend asking the site administrator, Moosaa Richardson, for further advise regarding learning the Deen outside of the university. He is more qualified to provide such advise than I am.
May Allah bless you.
is very dificult to gain yours Application number so if you possible please send me?not only the application number i want to full information about all of the process after that i will write those information then i will come.please !!!!!!!!!!
Please remember that while we provide what information we can on IUM for the benefit of prospective students, this site is not directly connected to nor represents the university in any way. ALL applications and interactions take place directly between IUM and the applicant. We do not nor are able to get involved.
May Allah bless you.
salam alykun pls when will the university release result for succesful candidate 2013/2014
The list is usually published around mid-late August.
May Allah bless you.
assalamu alaykum

Pls. brothers is there any one of you (applicants) who seeing “your application is under consideration” in completting application, and also can’t see his picture in interview form of his application? because i can’t see my pic till first jan up to now.
Salaam Alaikum Warahmatullah,
I read above that 2013-14 admission deadline was November 2012,
However the admission page still shows this message “Application for scholarship enrolment in the bachelor’s degree, for the academic year 2013-2014″
whether the one who apply in these days will be considered for 2013-14 session or for 2014-15??
Wasalam o Alaikum warahmatullah,
May ALLAH bless all.
Asalamu alaykum im starting madinah next year inshallah and I was wondering…..
Will I be to get accepted to the
masters program after my bachelors inshallah?
Can a new phd student become a teacher at any Saudi islamic university? please explain because i was rejected a couple of times
The Masters program is available to students of exceptional academic standing who have completed the Bachelors program. The PhD students do have the opportunity to teach in the university. A similar question was asked previously by a brother who wished to teach in IUM, Brother Moosaa gave him a priceless piece of advise regarding sincere intention. I suggest scrolling up through the comments on this page to find and read that advice.
May Allah bless you.
hello aslaumlyakum, i reside in usa, and want to apply for this university, i am going to be 22 years of age. i wanted to know how long does the process take. i also want to know would i be considered 2014-2015, i will be then 23 years of age. i really want to get in. also is there any other way to get in to the university easier. jazakullah khair.
If you apply now or anytime before October-November 2013, you will be considered for the 2014-2015 school year. They consider your age at the time of application, so as long as you submit the application before you turn 23, then you meet the age requirements.
May Allah bless you.
Aslm i want to apply for university of madinah in the year 2015-2016 . But when i should apply for it??
jazakallhau khair
Summer or Fall of 2014. (Avoid greetings by abbreviations please, as Islamic greetings were legislated by Allaah’s Revelation and are restricted to be done only how they were revealed.)
Salam alaekun. What is the meaning of this thing in someone admission, the period of your admission as not yet expire, you can still modified it if needed.please, since 1/8/2012 that i have apply, this is what i am receiveing, and I met all the requirment, please,i am from nigeria what can i do now?
This seems to be a common issue for the online application system. Other students reported the same thing, and they have since been accepted. I personally do not know how the new system works, as I never had to use it myself. I will try to contact someone who can help, but this may take some time.
Assalamu a’likum
Brother I wanted to know if i can apply with my grade11 marks(transcript) bcz I’m not done my grade 12 yet, therefore I have no diploma.
Jazzak Allah khair
You may not apply with only transcripts. You must have either a GED or a highschool diploma. Since you are so close to graduation, I do not advise that you drop out to get a GED, as this would likely cause academic complications down the line.
May Allah bless you.
Brother actually I’m currently studying in grade 11 and inshAllah will be done by June…so I was asking if I can apply with my grade 11 transcript bcz I somehow want to save up time instead of waiting a year after grade 12…I think my grade 11 transcript will let them know that I’m still studying, maybe if I can provide them with some sort letter or something inshAllah. Will be loking forward for ur response inshAllah.
May reward u for ur efforts.
May A
You may go ahead and try. I do not think it will be acceptable, but Allah knows best. If they do not accept you, then try again next year with your diploma.
May Allah bless you.
Can I use my learners permit card as my ID card. It is a card given to you before your drivers license in America. Is it alright if I use that It has my name birthdate address weight height race etc.
That should be sufficient. It would be better if you could provide a copy of your passport as ID on the application.
May Allah bless you.

Asalaam Alaykum
Do they look at your university degree (like Engineering) and the marks for that degree? Or do they only care about High School marks?
