{"id":4529,"date":"2016-01-16T13:36:15","date_gmt":"2016-01-16T13:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bakkah.net\/en\/?p=4529"},"modified":"2016-01-16T13:36:48","modified_gmt":"2016-01-16T13:36:48","slug":"shaykh-ibn-baaz-is-the-name-muhsin-allowed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bakkah.net\/en\/shaykh-ibn-baaz-is-the-name-muhsin-allowed.htm","title":{"rendered":"Shaykh Ibn Baaz: Is the Name &#8220;Muhsin&#8221; Allowed?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The following question was posed to the great scholar,\u00a0<strong>Shaykh &#8216;Abdul-&#8216;Azeez ibn Baaz<\/strong> (may Allaah have Mercy on him):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>My name is <strong>Muhsin*<\/strong>, and a student of knowledge told me that this name was not allowed. He advised me to change my name. What is your opinion, may Allaah reward you with goodness?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em><strong>*Muhsin<\/strong> <\/em>literally means one who does things proficiently, with sincerity to Allaah. It also carries the meaning of one who is kind and graceful to others.<\/p>\n<p>The shaykh responded, saying:<\/p>\n<p>There is no problem [with this name], since it is one of the names which can be used [for people], like &#8216;Azeez (Mighty), Samee&#8217; (one who hears), Haleem (gentle), and <!--more-->their likes. Allaah&#8217;s Names are not something forbidden for the people to use, except for those which are exclusive to Him, the Exalted, like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>al-Khallaaq (the Ever-Creating)<\/li>\n<li>ar-Razzaaq (the Ever-Providing)<\/li>\n<li>Maalik al-Mulk (the Owner of the Dominion)<\/li>\n<li>ar-Rahmaan (the Most Gracious)<\/li>\n<li>and the likes of these Names.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As for names which are not exclusive to Him, then a person may take one which suits him, and for Allaah are Names that suit Him.
