{"id":3908,"date":"2014-06-10T10:55:38","date_gmt":"2014-06-10T10:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bakkah.net\/en\/?p=3908"},"modified":"2014-06-11T14:15:43","modified_gmt":"2014-06-11T14:15:43","slug":"shaykh-ibn-uthaymeen-anyone-who-claims-to-know-the-end-of-the-world-is-a-disbeliever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bakkah.net\/en\/shaykh-ibn-uthaymeen-anyone-who-claims-to-know-the-end-of-the-world-is-a-disbeliever.htm","title":{"rendered":"Shaykh Ibn &#8216;Uthaymeen: Anyone Who Claims to Know When the End of the World Will Occur is a Disbeliever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In his explanation of <em>Soorah an-Najm <\/em>(pp.256-257), <strong>Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-&#8216;Uthaymeen<\/strong> (may Allaah have Mercy on him) stated:<\/p>\n<p>While we are in the fifteenth century and there have been fourteen centuries since the\u00a0revelation of the Quran, Allaah has still mentioned the Hour (the Day of Judgment) as being close. From this, we can\u00a0deduce that the entire lifespan of this worldly life is very long and far-reaching.<\/p>\n<p>However, do we agree with those who falsely claim that the\u00a0history of this world is such-and-such number of years?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The response:<\/strong> We do not accept their position. We do not believe them, nor do we <!--more-->declare them to be liars.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes they claim to have discovered some animal fossils or rocks that are such-and-such millions of years old. We do not believe these things nor reject them as lies, since they do not know the unseen matters of the past. They are merely making estimations based on modern observations of how things are influenced (i.e. what causes things to erode, decay, decompose, etc.). But who can\u00a0tell us for sure\u00a0that\u00a0the modern things that influence matter (causing erosion and decomposition) are the exact same things that influenced matter in the past? We do not know!<\/p>\n<p>The climate could have changed from warmer to cooler, or from cooler to warmer. Wind and rain conditions [could have changed as well], and other conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Our stance on the claims we read and hear about from the scientific findings of those people is that we do not affirm nor deny them.<\/p>\n<p>However, we must consider anyone who claims information about the future to be a liar, since he is claiming knowledge of the <em>ghayb<\/em> (unseen matters). Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, has said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u0642\u0644 \u0644\u0627 \u064a\u0639\u0644\u0645 \u0645\u0646 \u0641\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0645\u0627\u0648\u0627\u062a \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u0636 \u0627\u0644\u063a\u064a\u0628 \u0625\u0644\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cSay: No one in the heavens or on earth knows the ghayb (unseen matters), other than Allaah.\u201d<\/strong> [<em>Soorah An-Naml<\/em>, verse 65]<\/p>\n<p>Based on this,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u0623\u0632\u0641\u062a \u0627\u0644\u0622\u0632\u0641\u0629<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cThe Aazifah (Near Event) has drawn close\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\n[<em>Soorah an-Najm<\/em>: verse 57]<\/p>\n<p>This means that the Day of Judgment has drawn close. However, can we define its closeness (with a specific amount of time)? This is impossible. Anyone who claims that he knows when the Hour (the Last Day) will occur is someone who has rejected Allaah and His Messenger.<\/p>\n<p>As for (his rejection of) Allaah, then Allaah, the Exalted, has said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u064a\u0633\u0623\u0644\u0643 \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0627\u0633 \u0639\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0627\u0639\u0629 \u0642\u0644 \u0625\u0646\u0645\u0627 \u0639\u0644\u0645\u0647\u0627 \u0639\u0646\u062f \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0648\u0645\u0627 \u064a\u062f\u0631\u064a\u0643 \u0644\u0639\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0627\u0639\u0629 \u062a\u0643\u0648\u0646 \u0642\u0631\u064a\u0628\u0627<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cThey ask you about the Hour.
