Be sincere<\/strong> to Allaah and purify your intentions.\u00a0\u2018Umrah like any other act of worship is required to be done sincerely for Allaah alone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> Sincerity cannot be attained except by<strong> shunning<em> riyaa\u2019<\/em> <\/strong>(showing off), so do not\u00a0take pictures of yourself (\u2018Umrah selfies) in the middle of an act of worship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0\u2018Umrah is an opportunity to\u00a0connect to your Lord<\/strong>, so do not change it into a\u00a0social media event and ruin your act of worship by\u00a0\u2018humble-bragging\u2019 (using apparently humble language to actually show off where you are or<!--more--> what you are\u00a0accomplishing).<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Be devout in following<\/strong> the Messenger (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace)\u00a0in performing\u00a0the rituals of \u2018Umrah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Have knowledge<\/strong> of what the Messenger (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) did on \u2018Umrah and in his life in general, since there is no way to accomplish the previous point of advice (truly following him) except to have knowledge of what he taught us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Know the virtues<\/strong> of an accepted \u2018Umrah, and how it expiates sins.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Refrain from harming people<\/strong> in any way. There is no harming and no reciprocation of harm in Islaam, especially whilst in <em>ihraam<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Obey the people in charge<\/strong> of the Muslims, respecting and honouring the guidelines and protocols during the journey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<\/strong> <strong>Travel<\/strong> for \u2018Umrah (and all other journeys) <strong>in a group<\/strong> of three or more people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.\u00a0Women must\u00a0not travel alone<\/strong> (without a male relative), nor may they\u00a0travel as a group of women (wrongfully assuming that the group takes the place of male relatives).<\/p>\n<p><strong>11. There should be an <em>ameer<\/em><\/strong> (leader) for any travelling group. You must obey the <em>ameer<\/em> (in\u00a0all affairs related to the trip).<\/p>\n<p><strong>12. Make a lot of supplications<\/strong> throughout your\u00a0journey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. Make \u2018Umrah as often as you can<\/strong>, but avoid\u00a0multiple\u00a0\u2018Umrahs in one trip.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14.
