In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Ever Merciful…<\/em><\/p>\n

Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez ar-Raajihee<\/strong> (may Allaah preserve him) was asked:<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong> With respect to the\u00a0proper understanding\u00a0of\u00a0the issue of people\u00a0who do not hold the polytheists to be disbelievers, such as Ibn Sina<\/strong> (Avicenna), if a person comes along and says, \u201cI do not hold Ibn Sina to be a disbeliever. He is a Muslim to me.\u201d<\/em> Has this person committed disbelief?<\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> If he is confused about him and is not aware of his condition, he does not commit disbelief until his (Ibn Sina\u2019s) affair is first made clear to him. However, someone who knows he\u00a0was a disbeliever and\u00a0a heretic,\u00a0yet does not declare\u00a0him to be a disbeliever, falls under this nullifier of Islaam (i.e. he is no longer a Muslim).\u00a0This may not be clear to\u00a0some people, however,\u00a0so the one who is not aware of his condition should be made aware of it.<\/p>\n

Question:<\/strong> [Continuing…]<\/em> But if he rejects this and says, \u201cI am not required to do this\u201d?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong> He\u00a0IS<\/strong><\/em> required to do this. This means that he has fallen into one of these n<\/span>ullifiers of Islaam: \u201cWhoever does not consider the polytheists to be <\/span>disbelievers, or has doubts about their disbelief or considers their ways and beliefs to be correct, then he has committed disbelief.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

You are required to hold the polytheists as disbelievers and\u00a0have\u00a0enmity and\u00a0hatred for\u00a0them for the sake of Allaah. Allaah has\u00a0required this from\u00a0you. Allaah has made towheed<\/em> a requirement upon you. And there is no towheed<\/em> unless one holds the polytheists to be disbelievers. Whoever does not hold the polytheists to be disbelievers, has doubts about their disbelief, or\u00a0considers their ways and beliefs to be correct is a\u00a0disbeliever just like them, because he does not reject the taaghoot<\/em> (false deities). Whoever does not disbelieve in\u00a0and reject the taaghoot<\/em> does not believe in Allaah. His faith in Allaah and towheed<\/em> is not valid without two things:<\/p>\n

[1] Rejecting\u00a0all false deities,<\/p>\n

[2] And having faith in Allaah.<\/p>\n

Rejecting the false deities (taaghoot<\/em>) is what Allaah began with first in (the statement)\u00a0Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah <\/span><\/em>[There is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah]. Laa ilaaha <\/span><\/em>[There is no deity <\/span>worthy of worship] is a rejection of all false deities.<\/p>\n
