{"id":1990,"date":"2012-04-14T18:57:33","date_gmt":"2012-04-14T18:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bakkah.net\/en\/?p=1990"},"modified":"2012-04-12T18:14:03","modified_gmt":"2012-04-12T18:14:03","slug":"incapable-of-washing-feet-wudhoo-tayammum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bakkah.net\/en\/incapable-of-washing-feet-wudhoo-tayammum.htm","title":{"rendered":"What Does Someone Do When They are Incapable of Washing Their Feet for Wudhoo&#8217;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a title=\"Biography: Shaykh Muhammad ibn \u2018Umar ibn Saalim Baazmool\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bakkah.net\/en\/biography-muhammad-umar-saalim-baazmool.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Shaykh Muhammad ibn &#8216;Umar Baazmool<\/a><\/strong> (may Allaah preserve him) said:<\/p>\n<p>You have asked &#8211; may Allaah give you success \u2013 about someone who can not wash his own feet because of old age, as he is unable to reach out his hands all the way to his feet, while he is able to complete all the other actions of the <em>wudhoo\u2019<\/em>, except for washing the feet or wiping over footwear.\u00a0 This is while there is no one else available to wash his feet for him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So should someone like this suffice with washing the other parts (without the feet being washed), fearing Allaah to the best of his ability?\u00a0 Or is <em>tayammum<\/em> legislated in this case?<!--more-->\u00a0 And if there is someone available to wash his feet for him, can he still make <em>tayammum<\/em> or must he seek that person\u2019s assistance to complete the washing of the feet?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The answer:<\/strong> It is legislated for anyone who can not fulfill the complete washing of all the body parts of <em>wudhoo\u2019<\/em> to make<em> tayammum<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Should he wash the parts he is able to wash, and then make<em> tayammum<\/em> for the parts he cannot?\u00a0 It seems that what is obligatory upon him to make <em>tayammum<\/em> alone.<\/p>\n<p>And if there were someone available to help him complete the <em>wudhoo\u2019<\/em> by washing his feet, then it would be obligatory in his case to request that assistance, even if it were for a fee, so long as he can afford it.
