Do we not believe in it? Or do we have doubts about it with a possibility that it could\u2019ve been reported from the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu &#8216;alayhe wa sallam)? What are we supposed to think of a \u2018weak\u2019 hadith? Please explain\u00a0in detail, in shaa&#8217; Allah.<!--more--><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A &#8220;weak&#8221; hadeeth refers to a narration that is attributed to the Messenger (<em>sallallaahu &#8216;alayhe wa sallam<\/em>), but it has not passed the stringent conditions observed by the scholars of Hadeeth to be considered <em>saheeh<\/em> or <em>hasan,<\/em> meaning: authentic.\u00a0 When a hadeeth is classified as <em>dha&#8217;eef<\/em> (weak, or unauthentic), it basically means that we can not believe it to be from the\u00a0Messenger (<em>sallallaahu &#8216;alayhe wa sallam<\/em>), due to one of these two basic\u00a0reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A narrator in the chain has been identified as having a poor memory, or memory lapses, or another fault that causes doubt in his ability to narrate precisely, or something is known that has led\u00a0the scholars of Hadeeth\u00a0to believe that he erred in this hadeeth specifically.<\/li>\n<li>A break in the chain of narration has been identified.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have understood what is intended by\u00a0ruling on a hadeeth that it is <em>dha&#8217;eef<\/em> (weak, unauthentic),\u00a0then you should know that we do not believe in it or act upon it.\u00a0 Our position on it is that it has been narrated as a hadeeth, but we can not confirm it to be from our Messenger (<em>sallallaahu\u00a0&#8216;alayhe\u00a0wa sallam<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>This is unless it is further classified as <em>munkar<\/em> (weak and contradictory in meaning) or <em>mowdhoo&#8217;<\/em> (fabricated), not just <em>dha&#8217;eef<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And Allaah knows best.<\/p>\n<p><em>Written by: Moosaa Richardson<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What does a \u201cweak\u201d hadeeth mean exactly?
